the prophecy of the coming Messiah through uh Micah and as I kind of look through the the chapters it's like well there's there's a thread going through there so I want to I want to look at

some things there but I thought I would I would I would mention um four three other prophets and then uh 2 Chronicles some things that uh just here

the spirit is here uh the spirit is is working in how the prophets see that and not necessarily toward the uh Advent of the Messiah but again what we see is God

in Saving his Remnant uh particularly as we look at Zechariah and uh HEI and Nehemiah so I'm just going to uh read a

few verses uh just again it was an encouragement to me to just read how the prophets just stood tall and um

there's forsaking God there's discouragement and yet these prophets are there are there as um to remind them of what God had

um we also see mention of the the spirit in 2 Chronicles and again these are just encouragement to the people um the first

you know what do we do and seeking the Lord he actually makes this statement um we are powerless before this great

multitude uh that was what he was feeling and here's what 2 Chronicles chapter 20 tells then in the midst of the assembly

God's let's look at Micah and again um I may be little off vase here but I as I look at the words of Micah uh through the

basics um and the false prophets were turning the people against God and the people were sinning they were doing were doing wrong um and the the prophets were doing

their best to I guess you could say trying Israel's faithfulness um and this is what Micah says to the

people about those false prophets in Chapter 2 woe to those who scheme iniquity who work out evil on their beds when morning comes they do it

for it is in the power of their hands so the false prophets have a a power and they have their schemes and they're working them out and

in to tell them here's the power that I've been given and the courage that I've been given and um he delivers I I think a

compelling rebuke to the the nation of Israel for uh their sin and and being carried Away by these false prophets um kind of jumping in the middle of his uh

Speech to them but this is what he says when they have something to bite with their teeth they cry peace but against him who puts nothing in their mouths

they declare holy war therefore it will be night for you without vision and darkness for you without divination the sun will go down on the prophets and the day will become dark over them the sear

Isaiah speaks uh generally of the holy spirit's work in guiding the nation of Israel um in the wilderness so there are passages that we we see that the spirit

generally think of the weather um weather um but this but this is we see a lot of the things that we've talked about over the past couple of

months of the spirit of of guiding um and again and again reminding us reminding us of the fact of of the presence of God

through the through the spirit another one that is uh subject that we've talked about before is the holy spirit as the

executive of God's will in chapter 34 of Isaiah we read uh for the Lord has a day of Vengeance a year of

recompense for the cause of Zion and then he goes on uh later verses to say to them seek from the book of the Lord

and read not one of these will be missing none will lack its mates so he's speaking of how he's going to take care of the animals and all of the of the

creation that he's done and I think to tell them if I'm doing it for these Beasts of the earth and the fish

of the sea I'll do it for you but he says None will lack its mate for his mouth has commanded and his Spirit has gathered them um to

um I think Isaiah pretty much covers all of the all the bases as I hopefully we'll see um see um and obviously um if you've read Isaiah

you know that he has specific uh prophetic passages um and what he

calls so we look at them as the the servant songs the servant of the Lord in chapter in chapter 48 listen to me oh Jacob even Israel whom I called I am he I am the first I

am also the last surely my hand founded the Earth and my right hand spread out the heavens when I call to them they stand together assemble all of you and

listen who among them has declared these things the lord loves him he will carry out his good pleasure on Babylon and his arm will be against the caldan I even I

have spoken indeed I have called him I have brought him and he will make his ways successful come near to me listen to this from the first I have not spoken

in secret from the time it took place I was there and now the Lord God has sent me and his

Spirit um again I I think Isaiah covers um the the spirit's work his ministry the

things that um he's doing and then looking now at the servant of the Lord looking at the coming of the Messiah and

Messiah and um he um he speaks of the spirit's work um in anointing the Messiah with the necessary unction for for messiah's Ministry and

in the midst of that um as I read this it was like well wait a minute there's several things going on in here uh in the midst of speaking of the messiah's

ministry there's ministry there's blessings for the church um and for the people of God um and it's it doesn't

seem to seem to be um it's not separated it's part of the of the prophecy uh that that goes together and

yet acknowledging that it is all coming from God by uh the fact again that he's saying God sent me and his Spirit um this is chapter

Isaiah the spirit of the Lord is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to The Afflicted he has sent me to bind up the Brokenhearted to Proclaim Liberty to captives and free

Zion giving them a Garland instead of Ashes the oil of gladness instead of mourning the mantle of Praise instead of a spirit of fainting so they will be

called Oaks of righteousness the planting of the Lord that he may be glorified um glorified um to me it's all there the the that's the

the spirit of the Lord coming upon uh Christ the lord has anointed me to bring good news and how do we know

that well you go to Luke chapter 4 Jesus remember he stands up in front of the assembly and they hand him the scroll of

yet all the things that he mentions are for the church and uh that that idea of uh just proclaim the favorable year of

the Lord um and yet um and to me it kind of dovetails with the quote um that Chuck has in the in the news and notes

from Thomas Shriner um so if I read this and then read the other uh to me it seems to make a whole lot of of sense

and um I I guess that's too trite to say it's it's the

of God's justice along with his Mercy um he has sent me to bind the broken haret let's see to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord and the day

of Vengeance of our God and Shriner writes The Good the kindness of God cannot be truly appreciated as a gift of his grace unless the severity of God is
